Description: ------------ pear.php.net/manual needs support for user notes, similar to php.net's user notes support. The best model for us is the docs for php-gtk (http://cvs.php.net/viewvc.cgi/php-gtk-web/manual1/) Last I heard, there were issues with the spam checker being too strict, otherwise it works.

I'm wondering if we have enough people around to maintain the user notes. Last time I checked there were quite a few people involved with cleaning up the php.net user notes.

Philip Olson told me that having user notes at the php.net manual brought tons of people out of the woodwork and is what makes php.net manual so great, so I think we should try it out at least.

Perhaps what we could do is somethign like, rate this note, that would save us from having to validate the notes. I mean, when people say bad things, one can rate it as 0 and then those could be displayed at the end of the notest or something. I am aiming at doing something much more web2.0yiii Perhaps we could rely on community to maintain the user notes as well as having maintainers. I'll ask around to see what's the way they would prefer.

web 2.0 is fine as long as it is not _required_ in order to enter or view notes. In addition, it must be easily debuggable without complex setups - if I can't debug it right out of the box without fancy stuff, then it is likely to be "tweaked" (read: all web 2.0 stuff cut) Keep it simple, we can always enhance it later. :) I'd suggest that since many people will have an account for the bug tracker, we make all comments by registered accounts immediately displayed, but otherwise require moderation by someone with pear.dev karma.

This bug has been fixed in CVS. If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET). If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly. Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release. Thank you for the report and for helping us make PEAR better. fully implemented
