Thank you for your interest in PEAR. Sorry, there is unfortunately nothing we can do about this. We still need to maintain backwards compatibility with PHP4 for a while longer, and the instanceof operator is PHP5-specific. As Chuck suggests, the best solution is to turn of E_STRICT reporting. The is_a() function will continue to work as intended but without the warnings.
