After upgrading PHP from 4.3.11 to 5.05 we got the following error:
Fatal error: Cannot re-assign $this in /usr/share/pear/Image/Remote.php on line 197
We have disabled this temporarely, and now it works again.

//}
On the same page PEAR is also used for database requests!
